About Cash Plan
What is European Health Cash Plan?
A European Health Cash Plan helps to relieve the strain of having to pay for healthcare expenses, which are often not covered by traditional private medical insurance or national healthcare arrangements. With the European Health Cash Plan you have the choice of paying a monthly or annual premium, and then whenever claimable circumstances arise, you can recover some of the cost you had to pay. Additionally, when certain health-related things happen to you, you can claim a simple cash payment. There are different levels of cover available so you can find the best option for you, depending on your needs and budget.
What healthcare costs are covered?
The European Health Cash Plan offers cash contributions to a variety of different healthcare costs , including but not limited to: dental treatment, chiropody, eye tests, prescribed glasses, and some complementary treatments such as acupuncture and chiropractic. Depending on the level of cover chosen, there are cash benefits as well, such as a cash payout when you have to be in hospital as an in-patient and much more.
Here is an example of how it can be used:
- The optical benefit could help if you need a new pair of prescription glasses.
- There is cover for 75% of the cost of the glasses up to an annual limit.
- Under Level One, Essential Cover, the annual limit is €75.00
- So, if your new glasses cost €100, you can claim back a cash payment of €75.00

Is it like private medical insurance?
No! The European Health Cash Plan is VERY different to traditional private medical insurance. In most European Economic Area countries private medical insurance is used as an alternative to the country's public healthcare programme, enabling access to private medical treatment, but it typically won't help much towards other routine healthcare expenses.
The first big difference, is that with this Cash Plan you have the opportunity to claim back cash for your "out-of-pocket" healthcare expenses. So, it will not help much if you want expensive private medical treatment, but it will help pay for a dentist visit, a new pair of glasses, or complementary treatments.
The second big difference, is that you will see MUCH LOWER premiums - a cash plan is much less expensive than private medical insurance, plus there is guaranteed acceptance and no medical required.
